Communicating change: Aachen’s way to climate neutrality in 2030

Now that the summers are getting hotter and rainfalls are getting heavier, we aim to support the City of Aachen in ensuring its citizen’s quality of life. Jetzt, wo die Sommer heißer und die Regenfälle stärker werden.

The City of Aachen has set itself the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2030. To achieve this goal, we have developed and implemented an accompanying strategy for information, dialogue, participation and communication. As a result, the “Climate Protection. Us. Now.”-campaign was launched at the end of April 2024 to motivate people in the City of Aachen to make a contribution to reducing CO2 emissions and, in particular, to take advantage of city-funded climate protection measures.

Within the new communications strategy, we designed and built the website and developed a wide range of visuals and materials for advertising and public relations.
To maximise the credibility and effectiveness of the campaign, we created a design featuring real people from Aachen at authentic locations in the city.
Our tasks also included the concept of a dialogue-based event format, a bonus programme for the Aachen Incentive-App and the presentation of the campaign to political committees.
